Social Programs

SOCIAL DOUBLES

Every Wednesday and Friday evening, the club organizes doubles tennis events for all levels of play (ages 15 and up) from 7.15pm-9.30pm. Anyone attending will be mixed and matched into a series of half hour doubles matches. The event is social in tone but organized to provide a good level of challenging tennis for those attending.

All four courts are used. Light refreshments are provided (no refreshments in 2020 due to covid-19).

BBQ MIXER

On the last Sunday of every month, from 10.15am to 1.15pm the club organizes a social doubles tennis event ed (no food served in 2020 due to covid-19). Just like the AM mixer and Social Doubles, players are organized into a series of half hour doubles matches. Every half hour, new players take to the court. Come out for some fun play, great company and good food! This is a free event for members. Guests of members and non-members can participate for a fee.

AM MIXER

The AM mixer is a non-competitive morning doubles social event. It happens every Tuesday and Thursday morning throughout the season from 8 am -10 am. Players are set up to play by an organizer, and players rotate into new foursomes every half hour.

Singles Ladder 2020

When registering for the ladder please include your:

.Full name

.NTRP rating (or indicate beginner, intermediate or advanced)

.Email

.Phone number

Players will receive the contact information for all players in their respective boxes via email prior to the start date of each cycle. Players are responsible for scheduling their own matches with other players in their box, and to provide their own tennis balls.

BOX RULES

There are 4/5 players on each box

Players will be removed from the ladder at the end of each cycle if they did not play at least one match on that month without justification ( injury or absence ). Please inform the ladder organizer if you do not want to be removed.

RECORDING SCORES

Every cycle, each player plays a singles match against everyone in their respective box. Each match consist of an eight game pro-set (first to win eight games with no-ad scoring). No-ad scoring means when you get to deuce the next point wins the game, The player receiving the serve at deuce can choose the side from which he/she wants to receive the serve.

Players can record the score of each match on the chart in the clubhouse. Or you can record your scores in the online Google excel sheet that I will email to all players.

In your row, under the column number of the opponent you played against. Example: the score was 8-5, from your perspective

record “8-5“ in your row under the column number of your opponent. Your opponent would record “5-8” in his/her row under your column number.

Also, players can send an email or send a text message to the ladder organizer reporting their match results

At the end of the each month, the boxes are reorganized according to the scores ( see score rules below). The top two players from each box advance to the box above and the bottom two player/s  drop to the

 box below.

One player remains in the same box.

Final points will be tallied at the end of the month.

1 point per match played, 1 point per match won.

Each player gets a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 points per match played.

In the event of a tie at the end of the month, the total number of games won minus the total number of games lost will be used as a tiebreaker.

In case of another tie, the tiebreaker will be the number of games won minus the number of games lost in the match between the two tied players.

In case of a “no-show”, the match can be rescheduled at the discretion of the aggrieved party but if it is not played then it is a win by default.

Players must do their best to contact each other and arrange times.

During a match, if a player is injured or must leave and the players agree not to continue at another time, the player can retire from the match and the players agree not to continue at  another time, in which case the opponent gets the point. In this case, in the score sheet, write “ret” in the retired player’s row, and “def” in the winning player’s row.

In case of injury or absence, please inform the organizer if you do not want to be removed. If a player is injured or absent and is unable to play more than one match in a month, none of his/her matches

played that month will be tallied.

Players must do their best to contact each other and arrange times to play. If a player has difficulty reaching a game with another player( contacting him/her at least twice) , must inform the ladder organizer before registering a default.

MONTHLY WINNERS

.After the end of each month, the top player in each box will receive a new can of tennis balls (pick up at the club from one of the monitors).

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Ladder matches do not have any priority to get court time.

However, ladder matches will be allowed 45 minute timeslots (this is a change for 2020).

You must vacate the court after you have played two sets if members are waiting to play.
